Overview
South Africa has abundant natural resources, well-developed financial, legal, communications, energy, and transport sectors, a world-ranking stock exchange, and a modern infrastructure supporting an efficient distribution of goods to major urban centres throughout the entire region. Tourism is an important source of revenue.
Chief exports include corn, diamonds, fruit, gold, metals, minerals, sugar and wool while machinery and transportation equipment make up more than one-third of the value of the country’s imports. Other imports include chemicals, manufactured goods and petroleum (South Africa is the continent’s biggest petroleum producer and consumer). Major trading partners include other African counties, Germany, the USA, China, Japan, the UK and Spain.
GAC SHIPPING provides a full range of port agency services to vessels calling at all major ports in South Africa, as well as neighboring Namibia. Cape Town is also home to GAC Bunker Fuels South Africa, reflecting the significance of South Africa as a bunkering point for international shipping.
GAC LASER INTERNATIONAL LOGISTICS was formed in 2007, prior to which it operated as a Joint Venture between the GAC Group and Laser International Logistics. We provide a full range of logistics services throughout South Africa, and beyond, reflecting the country’s status as a gateway to Africa.
