Protection and Indemnity
When things go wrong in shipping, prompt action is key to effective P&I (Protection & Indemnity) representation. Insurers need a rapid response and timely communications to ensure any claims arising from an incident are fully investigated and documented.
GAC has represented International Group P&I Clubs since 1973. Since then, our P&I Correspondent network has expanded and we are now recognised as a leader in the field.
Since the late 1990s, we have also acted as agents of Medical Assistance principals, working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all year round. Our excellent local knowledge and relations with authorities and hospitals ensure that we can make the best arrangements for: medical evacuations; doctors’ visits; ambulance transportation; liaison and follow-up with hospitals or clinics; hotel accommodation; special travel arrangements; visa requirements; repatriation; and medical escorts, where necessary.
Today, GAC offices in Africa, the Mediterranean, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Far East have a track record of handling over 1500 P&I and over 500 medical assistance cases per year.
Our P&I team comprises experienced claims handlers with legal and technical expertise and maintains excellent relationships with local authorities and port officials which help expedite case handling and minimise Principals’ financial exposure.
